This year, we are reading to raise money for our Buddy School in Israel. With our help, they will be able to buy books for their Library!
We will be reading from the 12th - 25th of May, but our link will be open until the end of Term 2 to allow adequate time for donations to come in.
Makor HaTikvah is a Messianic (Christian) school, and their location in Jerusalem gives us an amazing opportunity to bring the places in the Bible to life for our own children. Their school is recognised by the Ministry of Education, but they don't receive any government funding, so all of their budget comes from enrolments and fundraising.
Our Primary students have already written our first letters to the children at Makor HaTikvah, and the students there are currently busy writing letters back to us. This year, we're going to raise money to buy books for Makor HaTikvah's library, as they've recently done some work on it and, as we all know, books are expensive!
We have chosen to switch from TEAR because we really wanted our children to connect with the difference they were making in other children's lives. By forming a real relationship with students from another country, we hope they'll be encouraged and inspired as they get to see how many peoples' lives can be touched by just a little generosity. We think we're incredibly blessed to be able to support a school with a mission so similar to our own, right in the heart of the land where Jesus Himself walked!
